A 22-year-old woman from Urmston, Manchester, has lost 10 stone in six months after being prescribed the diabetes drug Mounjaro, combined with a strict daily diet of chicken salad. Holly Barron, who weighed 21 stone 8 pounds at her heaviest, had struggled with weight loss due to type 2 diabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).
Barron was previously prescribed Metformin for her diabetes but suffered severe side effects, including vomiting for up to 12 hours, which led to a four-day hospital stay. In June 2025, her diabetes clinic switched her to Mounjaro, starting with a 2.5mg dose. The medication helped her feel full for the first time, enabling her to stick to a high-protein diet.
Her daily meals now consist of turkey ham and chicken grills for breakfast, and chicken salad with 15 grams of full-fat mayonnaise for dinner. She also tracks her carbohydrate and sugar intake. As a result, she has dropped from a size 2-3XL to an XS, and now wears children's size 13 trousers.
Barron, a part-time content creator, shared her journey on social media and has published a digital booklet on her TikTok bio. She hopes to lose another two stone and is awaiting blood glucose test results to see if she can progress to a 10mg dose of Mounjaro. She encourages others considering the medication not to be afraid, saying it has transformed her life.
