Alison Hammond's 11st Weight Loss: Diet and Love Story Revealed
Alison Hammond's 11st Weight Loss: Diet and Love Story

Alison Hammond has undergone an incredible body transformation, shedding an impressive 11 stone and finding love along the way. The Great British Bake Off host, 51, made the significant change after scales were unable to calculate her weight in 2020 due to their limit of 29 stone.

A Wake-Up Call

A close friend revealed: "It was a real wake-up call and she began a strict diet that day. People are constantly accusing her of cheating and saying that she's on fat jabs, but she's not. They weren't even around then." The unlikely secret to Alison's weight loss is £2 Itsu Crispy Seaweed thins, which she snacks on throughout the day. Previously, she had a sweet tooth, with pals claiming she was "addicted to toffee," but now she enjoys this healthy snack combined with a new exercise regime.

New Love

Friends also shared insight into Alison's relationship with her boyfriend, David Putman, 28, a Russian masseur and model. The pair went public in April 2024. Her friend told The Sun: "It was pretty much love at first sight, she fell totally head over heels with David and he's besotted with her. When you see them together it's so sweet. He gets on really well with her son too." Daily Mail has contacted Alison's representatives for comment.

Health Journey

Alison has revealed how she managed to drop the weight by addressing her "childish mentality to food" and cutting out her favourite treats. At her heaviest, the This Morning presenter weighed 30 stone before a pre-diabetes health warning pushed her to pursue a healthier lifestyle. She began her transformation five years ago, working with a personal trainer and adopting a stricter diet. Since then, she has also taken up Reformer Pilates and boxing, sharing videos of herself exercising online.

Speaking to the Radio Times, she said: "I've had a personal trainer for five years, even when I was at my biggest. But I had a childish mentality with regards to food, especially toffees – but now I'll only have a couple a day. We're not getting any younger, are we, babes? You realise at some point you've got to look after yourself. I've got a speaker under my pillow to play relaxing music, and a sleep tracker."

Pre-Diabetes Warning

Alison's health kick started after she discovered she was pre-diabetic, meaning her blood sugar was higher than normal but not high enough to be diabetic. Previously speaking to Women's Health, she said: "My mum had Type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening. I thought 'I have to be an adult about this'. The sweets had to stop, and the fatty foods."

Exercise Regime

Alison recently revealed she has started Reformer Pilates and circuit classes to keep the weight off, and explained why she won't use weight-loss jabs. She said: "You feel absolutely incredible after it. I really need a good stretch - so Reformer Pilates has been brilliant for me. I also do this early-morning circuit class from the brilliant Steve Hensel at Blue Zone. I'll go at 6.30am and do a full hour, it's a proper old-school gym."

Alison said she leaves the gym feeling "amazing" after working hard, but there is one wellness practice she won't adopt. She told Closer Magazine: "I did try one of those cold plunge pools once - and absolutely not! It lasted about a minute. I was like, 'Why am I literally trying to kill myself?'" Reformer Pilates, loved by Meghan Markle and Jennifer Aniston, costs around £25 to £40 for a 45-minute class and is surging in popularity in the UK.
