Scrambled eggs are a wonderfully satisfying breakfast or lunch option, yet they can start to feel somewhat uninspiring if you tend to have them plain on a regular basis. Fortunately, there are plenty of additions you can throw in to take this humble dish to a whole new level, whether that's cheese, chilli oil, or even sweetcorn.
One particular addition, shared by food Instagrammer Maham, who posts as @sugarwhines, promises to completely transform your basic eggs into something extraordinary. Just three ingredients are all it takes to turn your scrambled eggs into something rich and utterly delicious: garlic, mushrooms and a touch of flour.

Scrambled Eggs with Garlic Butter Recipe
Ingredients
- Two to three eggs, lightly beaten with salt and pepper
- One tablespoon of oil
- One tablespoon of butter
- Two cloves of garlic, chopped
- Five to six mushrooms, quartered or sliced
- One tablespoon of flour
- 3/4 of a cup of milk
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon of chilli flakes
- 1/4 teaspoon of mixed herbs
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- 50g of grated cheese
Method
Pour the oil into a pan and heat it, then add the beaten eggs and stir with a spatula until fully scrambled. Once done, transfer the eggs onto a plate.
Put the pan back on the heat and add the butter, then the garlic and mushrooms, and sauté for two minutes. Stir in the flour and chilli flakes, cooking for a further minute.
Pour in the milk, stirring continuously, then add the remaining ingredients and cook on medium-low heat until the sauce thickens.
Fold in the cooked scrambled eggs and scatter over fresh parsley if desired. Serve alongside sausages and tomatoes, or on toast.
