A baby girl and three adults have died following a crash on the A38 in Derby, with the driver arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Emergency services were called to the southbound carriageway between the A50 Toyota Island and the A516 at around 11pm on Saturday, July 25, after a red Hyundai left the road and hit trees.
Victims and driver
A 36-year-old man and two women, aged 18 and 30, were pronounced dead at the scene. A baby girl travelling in the vehicle was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards. All four were passengers.
The driver, a 33-year-old man from Leeds, sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital. He has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Investigation
Derbyshire Police said everyone involved in the collision was from Leeds, West Yorkshire. Relatives have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The A38 was closed for several hours overnight while emergency services and collision investigators worked at the scene. It has since reopened.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time to contact them, quoting incident number 26*442464.
