Tesco and Summit Foods have issued urgent recalls for a salad and several filled wraps over possible contamination with E. coli (STEC), a bacteria that can cause severe illness and, in rare cases, fatal kidney failure.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) published the alerts as part of its latest round of product recalls, which also includes chocolate bars, soft drinks, nuts and frozen desserts.
Tesco Finest Salad Recall
Tesco is recalling its Finest Mozzarella Pearls & Pesto Orzo Salad, sold in 215g packs with use-by dates of 25, 26 and 27 August 2026. The recall was triggered by possible STEC contamination.
Symptoms of STEC include severe diarrhoea, which may contain blood, abdominal pain, vomiting and dehydration. In some cases, it can lead to haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a serious condition that can cause kidney failure and be fatal.
Shoppers who have bought the product are advised not to eat it and to return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. Further information is available via Tesco's customer services at tesco.com/help/contact.
Summit Foods Wrap Recall
Summit Foods is recalling four varieties of filled wraps due to possible E. coli (STEC) contamination: Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap, Snacksters Hoi Sin Wrap, East Street Deli Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap and Target a Snack Chicken Fajita Wrap.
All affected wraps are individual packs with use-by dates up to and including 5 September 2026. The same STEC symptoms and health risks apply, including the potential for HUS.
Customers who have bought any of these wraps should not consume them. Instead, they should dispose of the product and email proof of purchase to sales@summitfoods.co.uk, stating when and where it was purchased, to receive a refund.
Anyone experiencing STEC symptoms is advised to stay away from work, school or nursery for at least 48 hours after symptoms stop to avoid passing the infection to others.
