A person has died and more than 200 others were left ill by a salmonella outbreak that may be linked to eggs imported into the UK.
Confirmed cases and hospitalisations
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said 207 cases were confirmed between August 11 last year and August 1 this year, with 199 recorded in England.
More than a third of those affected, 38%, were admitted to hospital, while two people developed potentially life-threatening bloodstream infections. Those who became ill ranged in age from babies to people aged 90.
Investigation into imported eggs
Health officials said they are investigating whether the outbreak could be connected to eggs imported from outside the UK.
