Paul Gascoigne's family are raising funds for a 'glimmer of hope' after his daughter-in-law's terminal cancer diagnosis. Jaimee Sharp, 28, is coupled with the football icon's son Mason, 37, and they share a boy Teddy, aged five.
Diagnosis and Treatment
Jaimee announced she has an incurable tumour and needs to raise £320,000 for treatment to keep her alive. The Mirror reports she has launched a campaign to raise funds to bring her to the United States so she can receive the revolutionary care.
The mum has set up a GoFundMe page where she pleads for help to "fight for more time with my little boy Teddy". Jaimee said that she had been diagnosed with an IDH1-mutant, CNS WHO grade four astrocytoma, and it has turned her family's life upside down, as Mason, the son of Gazza's ex, Cheryl, thanked those who have pledged support.
Fundraising Campaign
The bio reads: "Hi, my name is Jaimee. I'm 28 years old, and a mum to my five-year-old little boy, Teddy. As well as a mum, I am a daughter, a sister, a partner, and a friend.
"My whole life changed when I was diagnosed with an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer (IDH1-Mutant, CNS WHO grade 4 Astrocytoma).
"I've undergone major brain surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible, and now going through Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy treatment.
"Unfortunately, with this type of cancer, even after the standard treatment, the tumour will progress, and no one can predict how quickly. The median survival rate is about five years."
"More than anything, I desperately want more time with my little boy. Being Teddy's mummy is my whole reason for existence. And I'm not ready to say goodbye."
But Jaimee is not giving up. She went on to reveal that she's been "given a glimmer of hope" after being offered a rare opportunity to participate in a clinical trial in Ohio.
Urgent Appeal
However, she needs £320,000 in funds to give her "a realistic chance of completing this trial" - and has just four weeks to raise the money.
She has so far raised more than £146,00, but desperately needs even more pledges. "I accept that there is no cure for my cancer, but there is an opportunity for more time – and I need that," she continued.
"I need to watch my son's smiles and laughter on more Christmas mornings. To be there for more birthdays, and to watch him become the young man I've always imagined.
"I'm not asking one person to make this possible. I'm asking as many people as possible to help in whatever way they can.
