Health Risks and Symptoms
Salmonella is a group of bacteria that can cause salmonellosis, a common form of food poisoning. According to the NHS, symptoms include fever, diarrhoea, and abdominal cramps. The infection can be severe, particularly for young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. In the UK, an estimated 23,000 people are infected annually, with 30 to 50 deaths each year.
Individuals who develop symptoms are advised to stay home from work, school, or nursery until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours to prevent spreading the infection.
Official Advice
An FSA spokesperson stated: "If you have bought any of the products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund." Consumers are urged to check their refrigerators for the recalled items and follow the guidance.
