Multiple major UK supermarkets have issued urgent recalls on a range of products, including pasta, fruit, crisps, nuts, chutney, and hot cross buns, due to potential health risks such as salmonella, undeclared allergens, glass fragments, and metal pieces.
Morrisons Recalls Pasta, Crisps, and Nuts
Morrisons has recalled its Coronation Chicken Pasta (230g) after some packs may contain Florida Salad, which includes milk not declared on the label. The affected packs have a use-by date of June 30 and batch code GBB 584 031. Customers with milk allergies or intolerances are advised not to eat the product.
The supermarket also recalled its Maple & Bacon Back of the Net crisps (140g) with a best-before date of August 22, due to a packaging error that may result in undeclared milk. A Morrisons spokesperson stated: “Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don't need a receipt. No other products are affected by this issue.”
Additionally, Morrisons Savers Cashews (125g) have been recalled due to the possible presence of glass. The affected best-before dates are August 9, September 6, September 26, September 28, and October 9.
Fruit Recalls at Five Supermarkets Over Salmonella
Prepworld has recalled several fruit products sold at Morrisons, Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Waitrose after testing identified salmonella in apples and kiwi fruits. The affected items include:
- Asda Pink Lady Apple, Mango, Strawberry & Blueberry – use by June 23 and 24
- Morrisons Kiwi, Melon & Strawberries – use by June 24
- Tesco Melon, Kiwi & Strawberry – use by June 24
- Tesco Kiwi Fruit Pot – use by June 24
- Waitrose Pink Lady Apple and Grapes – use by June 23
- Sainsbury’s Melon, Kiwi & Strawberry – use by June 23
- Sainsbury’s Orange & Kiwi – use by June 23
- Sainsbury’s Pink Lady Apple & Grape – use by June 23
- Tesco Fruit Kebabs – use by June 23
- Tesco Melon, Kiwi & Strawberry – use by June 23 and 24
A Food Standards Agency spokesperson warned: “Symptoms caused by Salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. If you are experiencing these symptoms, stay away from work, school or nursery until you have stopped having symptoms for at least 48 hours. If you have bought any of the above products, do not eat them. Return them to the store for a full refund.”
Tesco and Sainsbury’s Recall Chutney Over Metal Pieces
Fox’s Burton’s Companies (FBC) UK has recalled Arran Fine Foods Caramelised Red Onion Chutney sold at Tesco and Sainsbury’s due to possible metal contamination. The affected batches include 195g packs with best-before dates from November 25, 2028 to February 3, 2029, and 1.35kg packs with best-before dates from April 28, 2027 to August 17, 2027. Customers are urged to return the product for a refund.
Waitrose Recalls Hot Cross Buns Over Undeclared Barley
Waitrose & Partners has recalled its 4 Richly Fruited Hot Cross Buns because they contain barley, which is not declared on the label. Customers with a barley allergy should not eat the product and can return it to the store for a full refund without a receipt.
