Olivia Rodrigo Reveals She Is 60 Percent Deaf in Left Ear
Olivia Rodrigo: 60 Percent Deaf in Left Ear

Olivia Rodrigo has made a surprising health confession, revealing that she is 60 percent deaf in her left ear. The American singer-songwriter stunned KISS FM presenters Tyler West and Chloe Burrows during an interview, where she discussed her upcoming album and personal life.

Shocking Revelation on Air

While promoting her new album You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, Rodrigo disclosed her hearing impairment. The topic came up when Tyler referenced her song What's Wrong With Me? and jokingly asked, "What is wrong with you?" To his surprise, Rodrigo answered candidly: "There's quite a lot that's wrong with me. Um, actually, I am like, 60 percent deaf in my left ear. So, if you were to sit on this side of me [points to the left] and try to tell me a secret, I couldn't make out what you were saying."

She added, "So, if you tell me a secret, go right here [points to the right]." Chloe Burrows gasped in response, saying, "That is amazing because you're a singer and you always have like headphones, like that is crazy."

New Album and Personal Growth

Rodrigo's third album offers fans a glimpse into her first experience in an "adult relationship." She explained, "It's me discovering what romantic love looks like in real time. I've been in relationships before that were really exciting and tumultuous in a teenage way. But this was my first time being in a real, 'big girl' relationship."

The singer reportedly split from her British boyfriend, actor Louis Partridge, in December after a two-year romance that began in 2023. A source told the press that friends were "shocked" by the breakup, and Rodrigo attended Lily Allen's Christmas party solo.

Reflecting on heartbreak, Rodrigo shared, "I think it gets easier... I don't know, talk to me in two years and maybe I'll have gone through the worst heartbreak ever. But I just feel like heartbreak will never be as bad as it was when you were 17 years old. That breakup that I went through when I was 17... oh my God, nothing will ever be that tough ever again. Hopefully! Maybe I'm speaking very naively."

She added, "But I do feel that with every kind of rejection – whether in love or a work thing, a friend thing or whatever – I'm taking stuff less personally as I get older. As you grow and have more experiences, it starts to feel OK."

Wedding Song Already Chosen

Despite singing about heartbreak, Rodrigo has already picked her wedding song. She told the BBC, "It's going to be I Melt with You by Modern English."
