Narinder Kaur in hospital after tropical infection scare

Former Big Brother star and television panellist Narinder Kaur has issued a health update after being admitted to a specialist hospital with a suspected tropical infection. The 53-year-old fell seriously ill shortly after returning to the UK from a two-week family holiday to India and the Maldives.

Swift NHS Response to Sudden Illness

Kaur revealed she was taken to the Hospital for Tropical Diseases after suddenly falling "really poorly" upon her return home. In a post on X, formerly Twitter, she expressed immense gratitude for the care she received. "I can't thank ENOUGH the amazing nurses and Dr's who took swift and amazing care of me," she wrote, adding it was a "humbling reminder of just HOW important the NHS is in the UK."

She later emphasised the crucial role of the health service, stating: "Being a patient is always a reminder of how amazing and CRUCIAL the NHS is. I mean, what would I have done without them?" Kaur confirmed she had submitted a "FIRST CLASS review" of her treatment, receiving a text message acknowledging her feedback.

Holiday Joy Turns to Health Scare

The health scare occurred just a day after Kaur returned from her holiday, where she had been actively sharing updates and photos from locations like the Golden Temple and the Taj Mahal. However, her condition deteriorated rapidly after landing in the UK.

She reportedly experienced severe symptoms including:

  • Extreme chills
  • Intense flu-like illness
  • Chronic fatigue

These alarming signs prompted an urgent medical assessment. Doctors conducted several tests amid concerns she could have contracted a serious illness such as malaria or dengue fever. The exact cause of her infection remains unknown.

A Reminder of Travel Health Risks

A source close to the situation told The Sun: "It all happened very quickly. Everyone saw what a great time she was having in India. Then she started feeling seriously unwell as she returned to the UK and was advised to go straight to hospital. It’s been frightening, but she’s in expert hands."

The incident highlights how tropical illnesses can sometimes take days or weeks to emerge after exposure. Risks can include mosquito bites, consuming untreated water, or walking barefoot in certain areas.

Narinder Kaur first found fame on the 2001 series of Big Brother and has since become a regular commentator on shows like Jeremy Vine, Good Morning Britain, and GB News.
