Vangelina Sakorafou, a 21-year-old from a prominent Athenian family, passed away suddenly while on holiday. What began as a relaxing trip swiftly turned into a nightmare when she was bitten by an insect, triggering a severe allergic reaction.
A Rapid and Tragic Decline
The young woman was rushed to a local medical centre after the bite caused her face to swell dramatically. Despite initially being sent home with antihistamines, her condition deteriorated at an alarming rate.
Her family, recognising the severity of the situation, desperately drove her to the larger Korgialeneio Hospital in Nafpaktos. Tragically, Vangelina suffered a fatal cardiorespiratory arrest, believed to be anaphylactic shock, and could not be revived.
