Teddi Mellencamp Wants Weight Loss Drugs Amid Cancer Battle, Doctor Says No
Teddi Mellencamp Denied Weight Loss Drugs During Cancer Fight

Teddi Mellencamp has opened up about her desire to start taking weight loss drugs amid her ongoing battle with cancer. The reality TV star, 44, revealed that she asked her doctor if she could take GLP-1 medications after her body changed during treatments, and was disappointed when she was told no.

Frustration Over Doctor's Refusal

Speaking on Wednesday's episode of the podcast Two Ts in a Pod alongside guest co-host Dolores Catania, Mellencamp said: 'I am a health and wellness coach who's dying of cancer. And because I gained weight from the steroids [from my treatment], because I'm getting bigger from the steroids, I asked my doctor if I could please have GLP-1s. And he was like, "No!"'

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, who recently revealed she is dating a mystery older man, expressed her frustration: 'Let me live!' She recalled feeling as though her doctor was telling her to 'live my best life, but I don't even get [the medications I want]. Live your best life? Where are my GLP-1s?'

Catania's Response

Catania responded sympathetically: 'I'm so sorry someone told you no,' before suggesting Mellencamp could obtain the weight loss drugs elsewhere. 'But I don't know that I'd listen.' Mellencamp added: 'I mean, I know people where I could get it. I have friends that do it.' Catania then offered: 'Well, I'm taking it tomorrow if you want to start with me.'

Cancer Journey and Recovery

Catania expressed hope that Mellencamp would survive and recover completely from her stage 4 cancer diagnosis. 'I think maybe someone's lying,' Catania said. 'I don't think you're dying. Because [if you were dying], he would've said, "Oh, if that's what you want, sure. Take that, go do some coke, go snort whatever you want!"'

Mellencamp was initially diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022 and underwent over 17 surgeries in two years. In February 2025, she had surgery to remove multiple brain tumors. By early 2025, she was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma that had metastasized to her brain and lungs. However, in October 2025, her scans showed 'no detectable cancer.'

In January, she revealed she was still struggling with health issues, saying the medications and immunotherapy took a 'toll on [her] body.' In her latest update from last month, Mellencamp stated she now has 'no trace of cancer' but continues immunotherapy. She also revealed that a new medication triggered Stevens-Johnson syndrome, a rare skin and mucous membrane disorder often caused by medication reactions.
