Perez Hilton remains in hospital as family shares health update
Perez Hilton remains in hospital, family confirms

Perez Hilton's family has confirmed that the celebrity blogger remains in hospital, following his admission at the beginning of the month after a concerning livestream. The 48-year-old, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, sparked alarm during a TikTok livestream when he appeared to brandish a knife and self-harm.

Family statement and ongoing treatment

In a new statement posted on his website, his loved ones said: "To everyone who has reached out, checked in, and kept Perez and our family in your thoughts, thank you! At this time, Perez remains hospitalized and is receiving the medical care he needs. His treatment is continuing in an inpatient setting under the care of a dedicated team of medical and mental health professionals."

The statement also addressed the future of PerezHilton.com, which Perez built more than 20 years ago: "Starting this week, his team will begin publishing again, focusing on the day's biggest stories." They added: "Whether you have followed Perez from the beginning or only recently started reading, we hope you will continue visiting, reading, and sharing the site. We deeply appreciate your support while Perez focuses on his health and recovery. For now, Perez's health remains the priority as his team keeps the site active and moving forward."

Initial admission and family custody filing

After fans raised the alarm during the livestream, police arrived at his home in Miami on August 4 and took him to receive treatment. In an earlier statement, his family confirmed that he "experienced significant blood loss and sustained additional injuries that will require surgery in the coming days," adding: "His treatment and recovery will be a long process. We are grateful that Perez was able to spend time with his mother and sister yesterday."

Last week, it was revealed that his mother had filed for temporary custody of his three children, Mario, Mia and Mayte. According to multiple outlets, the youngsters were inside his home, along with his sister and niece, minutes before the livestream, but left "when it became clear Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself."

Custody details and legal filings

Page Six reports that his mother, Teresita, is able to consent to necessary medical and dental care for all three children, make educational decisions, and gain access to their records. In another filing, she requested for the records to be sealed, with a note adding: "The children in this case should not be subjected to any further trauma related to the incidents that are the basis of the petition."
