Emmerdale star Danny Miller has been playing Aaron Dingle on ITV for over a decade, but his father Vince Miller is also a well-known figure in entertainment. Vince, 90, spent 29 years as the VIP host at Manchester United, earning the nickname 'king of comperes' and interviewing icons like Sir Alex Ferguson. He also worked with Johnny Mathis and Shirley Bassey and spoke at Bernard Manning's funeral.
Vince Miller's Career and Dementia Diagnosis
Vince announced his retirement from showbiz at age 82, telling the Manchester Evening News: 'I've no upset about it, the time is now to get out while you're on top, you don't want people saying 'not him again'!' Danny organised a charity event in his honour, calling him the 'best in the business'. Vince said: 'I've had a great career, I've done it all as a presenter, comedian, singer, I've been very fortunate. As Edith Piaf said, Je ne regrette rien, no regrets!'
In 2025, Vince received a dementia diagnosis. Danny has been candid about the challenges, sharing updates on social media and television. On Good Morning Britain, he said: 'It's sad, and, you know, me and my dad were thick as thieves at one point, and, you know, losing him over and over again is awful.' He added: 'There's good days and bad days. There was a time last week where I didn't know if I'd be sat here because he's up and down with his general health anyway, but dementia always makes it feel somewhat worse.'
Danny's Current Emmerdale Storyline
In Emmerdale, Aaron has returned to the village to see Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley), only to find a new houseguest, Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy). Aaron has voiced concerns about Serena and warned Robert against getting too involved. Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
