Online counselling service Betterhelp is offering users 20% off their first month's subscription this winter. The platform aims to make professional mental healthcare more accessible and affordable, with more than five million members globally.
According to mental health charity Mind, one in four people in England will experience a mental health problem each year. NHS talking therapy services show that 67.6% of referrals finishing a course of treatment showed reliable improvement, but long waiting lists, high costs, and stigma can prevent people from seeking help.
Betterhelp connects users with trained counsellors and therapists via weekly live video, phone, or chat sessions, plus asynchronous messaging. Subscription prices range from £40 to £70 per week, billed every four weeks, depending on location, therapist availability, and promotions. With the 20% discount, the first month costs between £36 and £56 per week.
All counsellors have at least three years' experience and verified UK credentials. Users can switch therapists or cancel membership at any time. The platform has a 4.2/5 rating on Trustpilot, with one user calling it a 'helpful tool in my pocket'.
