Paloma Faith: Leaving Marriage Was 'Best Choice' & Women Don't Have to Suffer
Paloma Faith says women shouldn't 'stay and suffer' in marriage

Chart-topping singer Paloma Faith has delivered a powerful message to women in unhappy relationships, stating that leaving her marriage was "the best choice I ever made".

A Message to Women: It's Not Your Duty to Suffer

Speaking candidly on her Mad, Sad and Bad podcast, the artist addressed a common feeling among mothers. "Women feel like it's their duty to stay and suffer for their kids," she said. Faith, who split from her husband Leyman Lahcine in 2022 after five years of marriage, strongly challenged this notion.

She explained that her decision to end the romantic relationship ultimately led to a much healthier dynamic for their family. The couple, who share two daughters, have successfully transitioned to a friendship focused on co-parenting.

From Romantic Partners to Successful Co-Parents

Faith and French artist Leyman Lahcine tied the knot in 2017. Their separation was confirmed in 2022, a year after welcoming their second child. The singer has previously cited the struggles of adapting to parenthood and a growing resentment as reasons for the breakdown.

However, she now reflects on the split with clarity. "Maybe in choosing to get out of the relationship in the romantic sense and into a relationship with him as a friendship and a co-parent was the best choice I ever made," Faith stated. She emphasised that their relationship is now "amazing" and better because of that choice.

New Beginnings: A Third Child on the Way

Paloma Faith has since moved on personally and is embracing a new chapter. She is currently expecting her third child with her new boyfriend, Stevie Thomas.

The pair went public with their relationship in March 2025 at the Sony Music BRITs afterparty. A source described them as "head over heels" and noted that Faith considers it her "healthiest relationship ever." They praised Thomas as a "great communicator" and a "kindred spirit."

Faith announced her pregnancy on social media in October 2025, sharing photos showing her baby bump with the caption: "Plot twist, mother is mothering (again)." This new arrival will be her first child with Thomas.

By sharing her story, Paloma Faith hopes to empower others, proving that prioritising personal happiness can lead to more positive outcomes for everyone involved, especially children.
