The Wanted singer Max George has revealed he was rushed to hospital twice in one week due to heart arrhythmias, just days before a planned US tour with bandmate Siva Kaneswaran. The 36-year-old, who had a pacemaker fitted nearly a year ago, shared images on social media of himself on a stretcher before undergoing an MRI scan.
In a post that garnered over 8,000 likes, George explained that the hospital visits occurred two days before the tour was due to start. 'After being taken into A&E twice in a week due to arrhythmias, I had to have a full heart scan,' he wrote. 'Luckily, everything was fine and I was given the green light to get back on stage... Just needed a few tweaks.'
Arrhythmia is a condition where the heart beats too fast or too slowly due to disrupted electrical signals. George has been open about his health struggles, including a previous surgery for a pacemaker. His girlfriend, Maisie Smith, recently told The Sun that he still experiences 'hard days' but is 'getting stronger again' and was well enough to complete the tour.
The singer and Siva, performing as The Wanted 2.0, had to cancel a concert in Manchester due to George's ongoing health issues. He previously underwent a second operation to adjust the pacemaker wires, describing the procedure as 'nervous' due to the risk of bleeding on the heart. Despite the setbacks, George expressed his excitement about touring and hinted at more shows in the diary for next year.
