Singer Max George has shared an update revealing he is back in hospital for a precautionary scan, following the major heart surgery he underwent last year. The 37-year-old member of the band The Wanted posted a clip to his Instagram Stories on Friday, showing himself waiting in a hospital corridor.
A Precautionary Return to Hospital
In the video, George explained the reason for his latest visit. He stated he was at the hospital where he had all his heart surgeries and was having a scan on his chest due to a minor issue with one of his lungs. He assured fans it was just a precaution and he should be fine, signing off with a thumbs-up and wishing his followers a good weekend.
This visit comes after a significant health journey for the pop star. In December 2024, George was fitted with a pacemaker after his mother, Babs, noticed he had 'turned blue' and insisted he go to A&E. He later required a second procedure to correct a misplaced wire from the initial surgery and has been keeping his social media followers updated on his recovery progress.
Recovery and a Strengthened Bond
Despite the challenges, George's girlfriend, former EastEnders actress Maisie Smith, 24, has spoken about how his health scare has brought them closer. In a recent interview, she reflected that this time last year, 'no one knew what was going to happen' after his life-saving operation.
Maisie confirmed that almost a year on, their bond is stronger than ever and she fell in love with him all over again. She noted that while George still has difficult days, he is getting stronger and it has been positive to see him return to performing. The couple recently starred together in Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds in March.
Looking Forward
Prior to his surgery, George had been touring with his bandmate Siva Kaneswaran on the American leg of The Wanted's 2.0 Tour. Maisie expressed her joy at seeing him back on stage, calling it 'a nice feeling to see him do that after the year he's had.'
For now, fans will be hoping the latest scan brings positive news and that George's recovery continues on a steady path.
