UK Couple in Critical Condition After Spain Wildfires

A British couple, Simon Batchelor and Lisa Fryett from Canvey in Essex, are in critical condition after being caught in deadly wildfires in southern Spain. The couple was staying near Bédar and Los Gallardos in Almeria when the blaze broke out. Emergency crews rescued them and took them to hospital, where they remain in critical condition. Their three children are now by their side in Spain.

Desperate Plea to Rescuers

A fundraising page set up for the family revealed the desperate plea Simon and Lisa made to rescuers. The GoFundMe page stated: "When they were found, despite their devastating injuries, Simon and Lisa pleaded with their rescuers to save them because they wanted to see their children again. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of the emergency services, that wish has now become a reality, with all three of their children by their side in Spain."

Lisa's twin sister has also remained by her side. The fundraiser aims to cover costs of emergency travel, accommodation, food, and other expenses. As of the latest update, the family has raised £47,204.
