A woman is in a critical condition after being pulled from the River Thames following a fall from Westminster Bridge during Wednesday's terrorist attack. The attacker drove a car into pedestrians on the bridge, and it remains unclear whether the woman jumped voluntarily to avoid the vehicle or was thrown into the water.
The Port of London Authority confirmed that a female member of the public was recovered from the water near Westminster Bridge at 2.49pm. She is alive but undergoing urgent medical treatment on a nearby pier. Police closed the river from Vauxhall to Embankment, stating that the woman was believed to be the only person who ended up in the water.
Witness Steve Voake, 55, described seeing at least two bodies on the road and another body in the water with blood around it. Another witness, Michael Amadou, was driving a bus across the bridge and said the attacker, in a grey Hyundai 4x4, mowed down anyone in his way. He heard a man shouting that his wife had jumped into the river to avoid being struck.
