The ranking comes amid a surge in seaside camping, with searches for 'coastal campsites' increasing by 101% over the past three months, according to Idealo.
Location and Facilities
Located at Chathill, about an hour's drive from Newcastle, the site sits just across from Beadnell Bay beach, within walking distance of Beadnell and Seahouses. From Seahouses, visitors can take boat trips to the Farne Islands. The site offers views across the coast and to the Cheviot Hills, and is ideal for spotting seals and seabirds, as well as wind surfing, kite surfing, and cycling. Both the Coast & Castles Cycle Route and the National Cycle Network route pass the site's entrance.
Facilities include toilets, showers (which some reviewers noted need refurbishment), washing machines, and grass and hardstanding electric hook-ups. There is a shop and often food vans on site. The site had previously been ranked among the region's best by Google reviewers, who praised staff and nearby food facilities.
