Beadnell Bay Camping and Caravanning Club Site in Northumberland has been named among the UK's best coastal campsites for summer 2026, securing seventh place in a top 10 list compiled by price comparison site Idealo. The ranking comes amid a surge in seaside camping, with searches for 'coastal campsites' increasing by 101% over the past three months, according to Idealo.
Location and Facilities
Located at Chathill, about an hour's drive from Newcastle, the site sits just across from Beadnell Bay beach, within walking distance of Beadnell and Seahouses. From Seahouses, visitors can take boat trips to the Farne Islands. The site offers views across the coast and to the Cheviot Hills, and is ideal for spotting seals and seabirds, as well as wind surfing, kite surfing, and cycling. Both the Coast & Castles Cycle Route and the National Cycle Network route pass the site's entrance.
Facilities include toilets, showers (which some reviewers noted need refurbishment), washing machines, and grass and hardstanding electric hook-ups. There is a shop and often food vans on site. Nearby food options include locally-caught crab and seabass from Swallow Fish Ltd in Seahouses and local meats, cheeses, and pies from R Carter & Son in Bamburgh. The site is also pet-friendly.

Idealo's analysis considered affordability, guest reviews, proximity to the beach, and on-site facilities. Machrihanish Holiday Park in Argyll topped the list with an overall score of 8.85 out of 10. Beadnell Bay earned a score of 7.14, making it the only North East campsite featured. The site had previously been ranked among the region's best by Google reviewers, who praised staff and nearby food facilities.
