Lidl's Ice Cream Beats Magnum in Taste Test

A taste test conducted by Sky News has revealed that Lidl's own-brand ice cream outperforms Magnum, the UK's favourite ice cream, scoring nine out of ten compared to Magnum's eight. The comparison included products from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, M&S, Lidl, Asda, and Aldi, as well as Cadbury's offering.

Test Results and Scoring

Lidl's ice cream came first with a score of nine out of ten, priced at £3.19 for six sticks. M&S secured second place with eight and a half out of ten. Magnum, produced by Unilever, scored eight out of ten, with a cheapest price of £2 for three sticks.

Lidl's product also had a larger size of 120ml per stick, compared to Magnum's 100ml. In 2022, Magnum reduced its stick size and pack count from four to three due to rising operating costs.
