Shrinkle Haven, a secluded beach on the Pembrokeshire coast, is being hailed as an 'absolutely stunning' hidden gem by visitors. Located just a 20-minute drive from the popular seaside town of Tenby, this tranquil spot offers golden sands and dramatic cliffs, accessible only during low tide via a rock tunnel from its neighbouring cove, Church Doors Cove.
Access and Experience
To reach the beach, visitors must descend a set of steep steps with railings. One Tripadvisor reviewer noted: 'Absolutely stunning beach and cliffs; very steep, long steps to reach the beach, but worth it. Also found a gap in cliffs that took you through to another beach; this is not ideal for everyone, though. No facilities, do beware.' Another added: 'For two hours either side of low tide, you have the most incredible beaches I’ve ever seen! I was nervous about the access and although it’s a lot of steps, they do have railings all the way down and were fine for my 5-year-old.'
Location and Facilities
Shrinkle Haven sits between the villages of Lydstep and Manorbier. There is no on-site parking, but visitors can park at Manorbier YHA or in a cliff-top car park opposite the coastal path. The beach has no facilities, including no lifeguard service, so swimmers should exercise caution. Dogs are permitted at all times, making it a peaceful spot for dog walks.
Nearby Attraction: Church Doors Cove
Adjacent to Shrinkle Haven is Church Doors Cove, an amphitheatre-shaped beach featuring a natural archway in the cliffside, formed by the sea. At low tide, this arch provides access to Shrinkle Haven.
