A professional cleaner has shared a simple dish detergent trick for making shower screens streak-free, and it costs just 90p. The method, which uses a staple household item, works better than chemical window cleaners, according to the expert.
The Dish Detergent Method
TikTok cleaning expert @jetlagremedy demonstrated the technique in a viral video. "How I clean glass as a professional cleaner," she said. "I'm gonna show you how I personally clean a shower screen as a professional cleaner. First up, I've got some spray which is [dish] detergent and water."
She sprayed the entirety of the screen, covering both inside and outside. Then, she advised polishing the screen using a cloth or soft sponge, noting that circular motions help. For those with a fixed shower head that cannot reach the screen, she suggested using a bucket or bottle of water for rinsing, tipping it over the top edge to cascade down.
Squeegee and Final Shine
Next, she used a squeegee to remove as much water as possible. To achieve a flawless shine, she recommended drying with a microfibre towel. For additional sparkle, she prefers to use Windex or a homemade glass cleaner along with a glass cloth, spraying both inside and outside the screen, then buffing it up.
The end result, according to the cleaner, is "no soap scum, no smudge marks," just "an extremely clean glass panel." She also advised shining up metal parts with steel cleaner.
