Roman Kemp was forced to apologise on The One Show after guest Martin Clunes swore live on air during the Thursday, June 25 episode. Co-hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp were interviewing Kate Humble, Ben Fogle, and Martin Clunes when the Doc Martin star dropped an expletive.
Martin Clunes' Expletive Sparks Apology
While discussing the US remake of Doc Martin, titled Best Medicine, starring Josh Charles, Clunes commented on a preview clip. He said: "He's completely done his own thing, much nicer than me, less awkward and abrasive... he's warm and better-looking." Then, reacting to a moment in the clip, he added: "I was just looking at that bit... they wouldn't let me call the dog the son of a b***h, which I thought was funny."
The studio erupted in laughter, and Roman Kemp quickly interjected: "I have to apologise quickly." Alex Jones jokingly scolded Clunes, saying: "You've been on a hundred times!" Clunes defended himself, turning to Ben Fogle: "He's a vet... it's a female dog!"
US Remake of Doc Martin in the Works
Clunes also addressed the future of the show, confirming: "They're going again, they're doing another series." The US adaptation, Best Medicine, stars Josh Charles as Dr. Martin Best, a physician who moves to a small coastal town in Maine. Sky described it as "a heartwarming new comedy-drama about a physician who moves to a small coastal town in the hopes of a quiet life." The character struggles with a blood phobia and a brusque bedside manner while hiding personal pain.
The One Show airs weeknights at 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
