Richard Hammond addresses pub ban rumours
Richard Hammond has clarified whether he is 'banned' from his former co-star Jeremy Clarkson's pub. The relationship between Hammond and Clarkson dates back to their Top Gear days and continued with Amazon's The Grand Tour alongside James May, before the programme concluded in 2024.
On screen, the trio's road trip antics became legendary, with the presenters regularly playing practical jokes on each other and sabotaging one another's cars. It appears that, in some ways, that dynamic may have continued off screen.
DriveTribe video reveals the truth
Hammond recently appeared in a video for DriveTribe, the automotive platform founded by Jeremy, Richard and James, where he tackled some of the internet's most searched questions about himself. One query questioned whether he had been 'banned' from Clarkson's Cotswolds pub, The Farmer's Dog, which has gained widespread recognition through the popular Amazon Prime series Clarkson's Farm.
Richard responded: 'Actually, do you know, I think I am. I think I am, and if I'm not, I've always said I want to be.'
Previous ban jokes with James May
This is not the first occasion the matter has surfaced publicly. In 2024, Hammond visited James at his own pub and joked that he had similarly been hoping to secure himself a ban from that venue. Hammond said in the DriveTribe video: 'My stated intention when you said you bought a pub was to get myself banned. What do I have to do?'
James responded: 'A pub is a place for discussion, difference of opinion, so we're not going to bar you for holding a radical view. However, if you damage any of the artworks, break the windows, or insult any of my delightful young staff, then [my colleague] Jamie will assist you in leaving through the window.'
Jeremy's confirmation and golf club analogy
Hammond then added: 'I'll go for a ban. Jeremy's told me I'm already banned from his pub.' James confirmed that Jeremy had informed him of his own ban too, likening it to being 'banned from the golf club'. He suggested it amounted to being barred from somewhere he had no intention of visiting and questioned what the point of it was.
Clarkson's Farm co-star wedding
The comments come after Jeremy's recent attendance at the wedding of his Clarkson's Farm co-star Kaleb Cooper. Earlier this month, the farmer tied the knot with his long-term partner, Taya Wilkinson. Kaleb arrived at the ceremony in a £250,000 McLaren supercar, while Jeremy attended alongside his girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, and other cast members from the Amazon Prime series.
Jeremy is said to have supplied an unlimited amount of his Hawkstone-branded alcohol for the reception. The couple had announced their engagement more than three years ago. Kaleb previously called Taya the 'love of my life', to which she replied: 'I love you, can't wait to marry you!'
