Oti Mabuse has addressed the future of her new travel series, insisting she can return for a second season despite expecting her second child. The Strictly Come Dancing legend is joining former I'm A Celebrity co-star Reverend Richard Coles in a new travel show, embarking on a road trip through Oti's homeland, South Africa, across the four-episode series.
Oti and Richard's South African Odyssey
The series, titled Oti and Richard's South African Odyssey, was previously teased as: “Oti will take Richard on a trip around her homeland in a beautiful homecoming journey, supported by South African Tourism. Expect a musical, messy, very human road trip, bursting with dance, laughter, colour and deep friendship in this breath-taking travel series. What a journey.”
Oti has now hinted that she has plans for a second season already in a different part of the world, reports the Mirror. When questioned whether a second season might potentially feature a journey to Richard's homeland of Kettering by Radio Times Magazine, Richard joked: “I'm not sure we'd get four programmes out of Kettering. Although if we took in Northampton as well...”
Future Destinations and Family Plans
Oti, talking about how she's expecting her second child, responded: “I was thinking South America or Asia... I can still do it – I'll just bring the whole family with me!” Richard added: “We might get some odd looks. We were walking along the seafront in Ballito, in KwaZulu-Natal, and a local lady said something I didn't understand. Oti told me the lady had been speculating on whether I was Oti's old white husband.”
Oti's Family News
Oti announced she was expecting her second child with husband Marius earlier this year. Taking to Instagram, she wrote: “Plot twist...” before continuing: “We thought we had our hands full already, but life had even bigger plans. Baby No. 2 is joining the dance party, and our hearts (and house) are about to get a whole lot fuller. #babynumber2.”
Oti wed her husband Marius 12 years ago, and the couple welcomed their first child in 2023. The couple announced on Christmas Day that year that they'd welcomed their first child, in an adorable post. She shared a sweet image holding her newborn, with all three wearing matching Christmas pyjamas.
Oti's Career Journey
Oti and Marius met in Germany where they were paired as dance partners, before marrying in 2014. She joined Strictly the following year, having moved to the UK with Marius, and has since gone on to host her own ITV breakfast programme and act as a judge on Dancing with the Stars, before leaving Strictly in 2022, having lifted the glitterball trophy in 2019 with Bill Bailey.
The latest issue of Radio Times is out now. Oti and Richard's South African Odyssey airs at 9pm on 21 July on More4.
