Reality Star's Budget Wedding Blueprint
Former Big Brother personality Krystal Hipwell (née Forscutt) has delighted fans by revealing the clever cost-cutting secrets behind her 2013 wedding to Neil Hipwell. The 39-year-old took to Instagram on Thursday to celebrate their 12-year marriage anniversary while sharing exactly how the couple managed their finances for their special day.
How They Saved Thousands
Krystal disclosed they married on a Monday at a historic Byron Bay church that cost merely $400, demonstrating how timing and venue choice can dramatically reduce wedding expenses. Her approach to accessories proved equally thrifty, choosing a beautiful 1920s flower crown and sourcing her wedding ring from an antique store for just $350.
The reality star embraced vintage and second-hand shopping for every aspect of their celebration. Every piece of crockery, tablecloth and decoration came from opportunity shops, while her reception dress was a bargain $70 find from Etsy. In her heartfelt social media post, she affectionately recalled Neil's unusual pick-up line from nearly 15 years ago: "I can build you anything!"
What Truly Matters After Twelve Years
Despite the budget-conscious choices, Krystal emphasised that the material aspects mattered little in the long run. She wrote: "& I wouldn't change a thing. Because at the end of the day none of that matters, all that matters is that we still choose each other every single day!"
The mother-of-three first found fame on Big Brother in 2006 alongside her mother Karen, who had given birth to Krystal when she was just 16. Following her television career, Krystal transitioned into modelling for publications including FHM, Zoo, and Ralph magazines before establishing herself as a property entrepreneur.
Krystal and Neil now focus on raising their three children - son Sunny, 10, daughter Nakoda, seven, and son Huska, five - proving that their budget-friendly beginning created a foundation for lasting happiness.
