Andrew Lloyd Webber's global box office hit Jesus Christ Superstar is set to tour the UK following its West End run, with a stop at Liverpool's Empire Theatre from September 21 to October 2, 2027. The production stars Eurovision sensation Sam Ryder in the iconic role of Jesus.

The musical follows the last days of Jesus Christ through the eyes of Judas Iscariot, featuring legendary songs like 'I Don't Know How to Love Him', 'Gethsemane', and the title track 'Superstar'. Originally released as a concept album in 1970, it opened on Broadway in 1971, earning five Tony Award nominations including Best Original Score. The original London production ran for over eight years, totaling 3,358 performances, making it the longest-running musical in West End history at the time.
Eurovision star Sam Ryder, who gained fame with his hit 'Space Man', will portray Jesus for the first time on a UK tour. Producer Michael Harrison expressed delight at the tour, stating: “We are absolutely delighted that Jesus Christ Superstar will embark on a major UK tour following the phenomenal response to this extraordinary new production.
