A Place in the Sun presenter Jasmine Harman has revealed that her husband Jon suffered a heart attack while the couple were renovating their new home in Spain. The 49-year-old shared the news in her new Channel 4 documentary, which follows her family's move to Estepona. Jon, a cameraman, was rushed to hospital after falling ill, where doctors confirmed he had a heart attack. Harman told The Mirror that he is now recovering, saying: 'It makes you feel lucky he just had a mild heart attack and everything is fine.'
This is not the first personal challenge Harman has faced. She has previously spoken about her mother Vasoulla's hoarding disorder, which left her feeling 'embarrassed and ashamed' during her childhood. In a 2023 appearance on This Morning, she broke down in tears while discussing the issue. She has since set up a hoarding support website and now focuses on 'having a loving relationship' with her mother rather than the hoarding.
Harman also struggled with fertility. After a six-year battle to conceive, she and Jon opted for IVF. A benign ovarian tumour was discovered before treatment, but she successfully became pregnant on the first cycle, giving birth to daughter Joy. A later frozen embryo led to son Albion. A fourth attempt for a third child was unsuccessful. 'It wasn't completely plain sailing, but we are very grateful,' she said.
The presenter was also deeply affected by the death of her A Place in the Sun co-star Jonnie Irwin last year at age 50, following a terminal cancer diagnosis. In an emotional tribute, she said: 'The world is a little darker today without you.' Weeks later, she broke down on Loose Women while discussing his passing, adding: 'You never know what's around the corner.'
