Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has been praising his son Reuben as the youngster continues to follow in his acting footsteps with a new theatre role. The actor, famed for playing David Platt on the ITV soap, recently attended the regional premiere of the Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home at Manchester's Royal Exchange Theatre, where Reuben plays the character John.
Proud Father on Podcast
Speaking on his podcast, On the Sofa, which he co-hosts with Corrie co-stars Ben Price and Colson Smith, Jack revealed details about his son's role. "He's got a part in a new musical coming to Manchester... It's called Fun Home. It's a coming-of-age sort of story about kids growing up in this funeral home. He's playing one of the kids. Yeah, he's got a part, and it's a month run at the Royal Exchange in Manchester," Jack said. When asked if his son is looking forward to it, Jack replied: "He's buzzing. I've taken him to a few of the rehearsals last weekend, and he has to be there 10 until five. It's a full job!"

Jack also took to Instagram to share his pride, captioning a photo of the show's poster: "Went to see Reuben as John in The Fun Home, the show runs for a month at @royalexchangemanchester if you can, go see it. Fantastic performances, in particular Alex Young is flawless and Nigel Harman is superb… brace yourself though. It’s very emotional." The musical stars Jodie McNee as Alison Bechdel alongside award-winning actor Nigel Harman as Bruce Bechdel.

The proud father recently welcomed his fourth child, a baby girl named Constance Ita Shepherd, with his wife Hanni Treweek. The couple announced the pregnancy on Valentine's Day and tied the knot at Manchester Cathedral in July 2025. Constance was born at home on June 26, 2026. Jack also has children Nyla Rae and Reuben with ex-girlfriend Lauren Shippey, and a son, Greyson, with former partner Sammy Milewski.
