Gorka Marquez has ruled out having a third child with fiancée Gemma Atkinson after their first child-free break in a while was ruined when Gemma fell violently ill. The former Strictly Come Dancing star and his partner, who share six-year-old Mia and two-year-old Thiago, had hoped for a romantic getaway in Spain, but Gemma's overindulgence led to a night of projectile vomiting.
Gemma's Illness Spoils the Evening
Speaking on their podcast, Gemma admitted: "I got ill, of course I did, I get ill whenever I go away." She blamed herself, saying: "It was literally my own fault. There's nothing I can say other than I was a greedy, indulgent pig." Gorka complained: "That's why there's no child number three. I think she does it on purpose... I was getting ready – shave that bush and everything for the night." Instead of romance, Gemma said Gorka witnessed an "exorcism" as she spent the night projectile vomiting.
Food Choices to Blame
Gemma explained that the trouble started at a restaurant where she made unwise menu choices, loading up on carbohydrates with no protein. Gorka noted her lack of protein, and Gemma protested: "Normally at home, I prioritise my protein, my fibre, my fat. I'm good."
Plans to Buy Property in Spain
The couple also discussed Gemma's aspiration to buy a property in Spain. Gemma admitted the process was more complicated than expected: "I naively thought, it's the same as the UK. You go over, you buy it, stamp duty, done." Gorka explained that Gemma tends to rush ahead, saying: "I was in New York, and in the three days that I was there, she booked flights, she organised viewings, she organised this, no idea where to go. I'm just find out that I'm going to Spain." He suggested more research: "I think we should go multiple times. I think we should also next trip go with the kids, see what the kids like and how we find out with the kids and everything. Not just because we went 36 hours and we have a lovely time together."
Brexit Travel Troubles
Gemma also noted that post-Brexit travel to Europe has become more troublesome: "We have to go through security separately now because of Brexit... we have to go in separate queues." As an EU citizen, Gorka faced no difficulties, but Gemma said: "He flew through, of course he did, because it's his motherland. I was in a queue for ages. I had to do my fingerprints. I had to say where I was staying. Could we afford to stay there when I was leaving? Felt like a criminal I did."
