Celebrity Antiques Road Trip Star Falls Ill, Misses Auction
Gladiators Star Ill on Antiques Road Trip, Misses Auction

Diane 'Jet' Youdale, star of the 1990s show Gladiators, fell ill while filming an episode of BBC's Celebrity Antiques Road Trip, forcing her to miss the final auction. Her co-star James 'Hunter' Crossley broke the news to the experts and crew.

What Happened on the Show

The episode featured specialists Margie Cooper and Ishy Khan, who were joined by Youdale and Crossley. The two Gladiators were split into competing teams, each given £400 to find vintage treasures to sell at auction. Youdale was paired with Khan, while Crossley teamed up with Cooper.

Youdale was filmed searching for items in Greater Manchester and Lancashire, but she fell ill before the auction. Crossley was seen taking a phone call, saying, 'Alright my love, get well soon. Lots of love,' before announcing to the group: 'Bad news. Sadly Diane's not gonna make it today, she's not in great shape. So, just one Gladiator. I'm gonna hold [down] the fort.'

Impact on the Auction

Cooper expressed disappointment, saying, 'That's such a shame, isn't it?' The remaining trio continued, and the results showed Crossley and Cooper's team secured a loss of £191.28, while Youdale and Khan's team had a slightly larger deficit of £196.88, meaning Crossley and Cooper won.

When asked if he missed Youdale, Crossley replied, 'Yeah it's such a shame because I know she was so excited about those auction pieces.' The episode is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
