Gary Windass Exit Sealed After 18 Years on Corrie?

Fans of Coronation Street are convinced that Gary Windass's 18-year stint on the cobbles is coming to an end after his involvement in a murder cover-up. The builder, played by Mikey North since 2008, has been a central figure in the Theo Silverton murder storyline, and viewers now fear a prison exit is imminent.

Gary's Role in Theo's Murder Cover-Up

Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) was murdered in April after his abuse of Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) was exposed. This week, it was revealed that Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) killed Theo by striking him with a metal pole on scaffolding, causing him to fall to his death. Gary helped Sarah cover up the crime, a secret they have kept for weeks.

Fans are now worried that Gary's role in the cover-up will lead to his departure from the soap. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: "Sarah and Gary better not get found out or go to prison, I don’t want them to go." Another added: "Sarah will land Gary in it I think if she gets caught." A third commented: "No not Gary!!!" Some fans even speculated that Gary might take the blame, with one saying: "Unlikely but he might take the wrap? And say it was him!"

Actress Tina O'Brien Addresses Possible Prison Time

Recently addressing whether Sarah might face imprisonment, actress Tina O'Brien said: "Yeah, absolutely she could be going to prison this time. If she'd have called the police straight away and explained what happened, she would have been in a much better situation, because it was clearly not premeditated, it was a situation where she felt she had no other choice. But to cover it up, to actively cover something up, she knows that she crossed a line that she can't come back from."

Gary's 18-Year Journey on the Cobbles

Gary Windass arrived on Coronation Street in 2008 as part of the Windass family, including his mother Anna (Debbie Rush). Over the years, he has been involved in numerous major storylines, from romances to a PTSD battle, making him a fan favourite. His current predicament has left viewers devastated at the prospect of his exit.

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
