Gary Barlow Says Take That's Circus Tour Won't Return 'With Heavy Heart'
Gary Barlow: Circus Tour Won't Return 'With Heavy Heart'

Gary Barlow has confirmed that Take That's Circus Live tour will not be revived, stating he 'just can't see a way I could physically do' the demanding show again. The 17-date tour, which concluded yesterday in Dublin, was a sequel to the group's massive 2009 tour that attracted over a million fans.

Emotional Farewell to Fans

Following the final curtain call, the 55-year-old singer shared a statement on X, explaining that 'with an extremely heavy heart' the tour would not return, despite considering it Take That's greatest ever tour. He wrote: 'And another tour comes to a close. Somehow, this one feels a little different. With the other tours, it's always comforting to know there will almost definitely be a next time. But I'm pretty sure this tour won't return.'

Barlow added: 'I was 38 when we originally did this show, and I have to say it's been a whole other challenge doing it as a 55-year-old. I just can't see a way I could physically do this show again. So, it's with an extremely heavy heart that I leave The Circus in my past. I got to run away with The Circus twice. Now I'm running towards our next exciting, brand new show.'

A Physically Demanding Show

The Circus Live performance is known for its physically intense elements, including dancers, trapeze artists, clowns, tightrope walkers, roller skaters, and a unicycle stunt involving the band. Barlow, now 55, found the revival particularly challenging compared to the original 2009 tour when he was 38.

The day before his statement, he posted: 'Best tour ever - to say that 35 years into our career is saying something.' The original Take That lineup, including Jason Orange and Robbie Williams, was founded in Manchester in 1990.

Fan Reactions and Tour Details

Fans expressed gratitude for the revival, with one writing: 'Thank you for bringing back The Circus, & letting us relive it & run away with it one last time & this time my kids got to see just how amazing this show was they loved it so Thank you. I cannot wait for the next chapter. Enjoy your time off and relax.'

Take That Presents: The Circus Live was the group's seventh concert tour, originally staged in 2009 to promote their album The Circus. The 2026 revival starred Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, and Howard Donald, with support from Belinda Carlisle and The Script. Jason Orange, who retired from the group in 2014, did not participate.
