Freesat Finally Adds Rewind TV Channel This Week

Freesat, the free-to-air satellite TV service, is finally adding Rewind TV to its channel lineup this week, giving viewers access to classic British comedy series, vintage drama, movies, documentaries, and kids' classics without a subscription. The long-awaited channel launches on channel 164 from June 25, 2026, providing a significant boost for households that prefer free TV over paid platforms like Sky Q.

What Is Rewind TV?

Rewind TV has been available on Sky since 2024, offering a nostalgic mix of programming. Its arrival on Freesat marks a key expansion, as the channel was previously exclusive to Sky subscribers. According to Jonathan Moore, Rewind TV co-founder, the July lineup includes classic comedy, cult television, and fascinating rediscoveries. Shows coming to Freesat include Sherlock Holmes, The Top Secret Life of Edgar Briggs, Doctor at Large, Only When I Laugh, Two's Company, Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), Boon, Father Brown, Hank the Cowboy, Drop the Dead Donkey, and The Kenny Everett Naughty Joke Box.

How to Get the New Channel

Freesat users with a compatible satellite receiver or smart TV should find Rewind TV automatically available from June 25. If the channel does not appear, a quick rescan of channels may be required. Freesat uses a wall-mounted satellite dish to beam content to TVs, similar to Sky Q, but without any monthly fee. While Freesat does not offer premium sports or movies, the addition of Rewind TV expands its free content library.

Freesat vs Sky Q

Freesat launched in 2008 as a free alternative to paid satellite TV, providing channels such as BBC and ITV. It also includes on-demand features via internet connections on supported devices. Unlike Sky Q, which requires a subscription, Freesat is entirely free. The service is a popular choice for viewers who want a range of channels without ongoing costs.
