Ex-Love Islander Reveals 'Voice of God' Producer Secrets

Former Love Island star Jessy Potts has disclosed that a 'voice of God' — an unseen tannoy system — is used by producers to direct islanders and prevent them from discussing off-limits topics. The 27-year-old influencer from Leicester, who appeared in series 11 in 2024 and later on the All Stars spin-off, shared the behind-the-scenes secret with Mecca Bingo.

The 'Voice of God' System

Potts explained that the 'voice of God' is a tannoy system throughout the villa. Producers use it to summon islanders to the Beach Hut for chats and to stop conversations about forbidden subjects. She said: "And the Voice of God – I don't think I'd really heard too much about that. There's like a Tannoy over the whole villa and that's how the producers get you to come to the Beach Hut to do chats in the Beach Hut, and to get you to stop talking about things you shouldn't be talking about."

She described the experience as surreal: "When you get in there, there are just people watching 24/7 and they're always listening, they're always speaking to you over the Voice of God. It's really weird that you just walk into a room, and it feels like an imaginary friend type thing."

Behind-the-Scenes Insights

Potts also revealed that the Beach Hut is not as glamorous as it appears. "When you're in the Beach Hut, you don't realise that it's a small little webcam and you can't see anyone. You're just talking to a wall," she said. The system resembles Big Brother's voice, another ITV reality show.

Potts first entered the villa as a bombshell in series 11, pairing with Joey Essex but not reaching the finale. She later joined All Stars, reuniting with former UK and USA islanders, but was eliminated after a week.

Current Series Drama

The latest season, series 13, is airing now on ITV2 and ITVX, with viewers gripped by Casa Amor fallout and the upcoming Movie Night. Love Island airs Sundays to Fridays at 9pm.
