Emmerdale Horror: Kyle Sets Fire with Dog Trapped Inside

Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) has returned to his dangerous habit of starting fires in Emmerdale, with devastating consequences for the Dingle family. In upcoming episodes, the troubled youngster sets a shed ablaze – and beloved family dog Monty is trapped inside.

Cadets Plan Fails as Kyle Reverts to Old Ways

Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) had previously signed Kyle up for the cadets, hoping to channel the boy's emotions positively. Kyle had been setting fire to barns on Emmerdale Farm, driven by hatred for Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) for taking over his old home, as well as struggling with his father Cain's cancer diagnosis. Graham understood that Kyle's fire-setting was a coping mechanism for overwhelming feelings and tried to help, even giving Kyle a watch from his army days. However, the watch has been smashed, and Kyle has now reached for matches again.

Confrontation at Home Farm

Kyle arrives at Home Farm, desperate for confirmation that Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was responsible for his mother's death. Graham arrives moments later, but Kyle flees. His shaken behaviour is spotted by Cain and Moira Dingle (Jeff Hordley and Natalie J Robb), who cannot understand why Kyle seems so distressed.

Shed Fire and Dog Rescue

The next day, Kyle's isolation worsens as Cain loses his temper with his son and storms out. Soon after, Cain notices something outside and rushes to find that Kyle has set a shed on fire – with Monty the dog trapped inside. Cain kicks the door down and rescues Monty, who is rushed to the vets.

Cancer Diagnosis Adds to Family Woe

Vet Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) delivers grim news: Monty has cancer. The family is told to prepare for the worst, and Kyle's guilt intensifies. Cain struggles to contain his fury. Collecting Monty from the vets, Cain takes the dog for a walk to decide what to do. He realizes how much he wants to help Monty but is also aware of his own cancer battle. The latest fire threatens to further damage the already strained father-son relationship between Cain and Kyle.
