Emmerdale fans are convinced that Mackenzie Boyd is set to embark on a new romance with newcomer Serena Sugden after his marriage to Charity Dingle appears to be on the rocks.
Mack's Tumultuous Journey
Fan favourite Mack, played by Lawrence Robb, made his debut on the long-running ITV soap in 2020 as the brother of Moira Dingle. Over the years, he has been at the centre of numerous major plotlines, from shocking affairs to being held prisoner in a bunker and tortured by murderer John Sugden.
Most recently, Mack discovered the truth about wife Charity Dingle's one-night stand with Ross Barton, which left Charity pregnant. To complicate matters further, Charity had also agreed to act as a surrogate for granddaughter Sarah Sugden before it emerged that the child she was carrying was Ross's and bore no biological connection to Sarah or her husband Jacob Gallagher.
Fans Speculate on New Romance
Despite being devastated by Charity's betrayal and dishonesty, Mack set aside his own feelings to stand by her following her sexual assault at the hands of Dr Todd. Now, with further turmoil seemingly on the horizon, fans are increasingly convinced that Charity and Mack are heading for a split — and they already have a new romantic prospect in mind for him.
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, viewers are speculating that he could embark on a romance with enigmatic newcomer Serena Sugden, played by Casey Al-Shaqsy. One viewer commented: "I really feel like Charity and Mackenzie are going to split soon. Too much has happened between them."
Another social media user then commented: "Mack and Serena romance?" A third added: "I can see this happening." Yet another remarked: "Would he do that to Charity though? But who knows in soap land."
Serena's Arrival in the Village
Viewers will recall that Serena arrived in the village last month, turning up unexpectedly and informing Robert Sugden that her grandfather was his father's cousin. It wasn't long before Serena began settling into village life, forming bonds with locals while reconnecting with family members. The newcomer has also secured employment working behind the bar at The Woolpack.
