Denise Van Outen on 'Uncomfortable' TV Moment She Struggled to Watch

Denise Van Outen, a regular on Celebrity Gogglebox since 2019, has spoken candidly about an 'uncomfortable' TV moment she seriously struggled to watch. The presenter and actress, who now appears alongside former Big Breakfast co-host Johnny Vaughan, shared her thoughts on a controversial incident from I'm A Celebrity South Africa involving Adam Thomas and Jimmy Bullard.

Denise Van Outen's Uncomfortable Viewing Experience

Speaking on behalf of Sky Vegas, Denise revealed: 'I find it very hard to watch when reality shows become uncomfortable like that. I think a lot of people love it because everybody likes to eavesdrop on people's dramas, and I know that more than anybody because I've worked on TOWIE for 16 years.'

The mum-of-one added: 'But I felt that, at times, it was uncomfortable. What I don't like seeing is people upset, because it upsets me. I try not to get too involved in it. It was very controversial, and I suppose the good thing about it is that it gets people talking about what is and isn't acceptable in terms of behaviour and boundaries. But personally, for me, I found it a very uncomfortable watch.'

Working with Johnny Vaughan on Celebrity Gogglebox

Denise also opened up about her on-screen partnership with Johnny Vaughan, noting that despite their differing tastes in television, they 'never argue' over what to watch. 'We have our favourite things that we like to watch, but we never argue about them because we share the remote control,' she said.

She added: 'I'm not a big fan of horror films because I get quite scared, and Johnny likes watching me get scared. It makes him laugh because I tend to scream quite a lot. When we watch horror movies, I'm clinging on to him and trying to hide my eyes.'

Future Reality TV Aspirations

When asked about future reality TV appearances, Denise expressed interest in joining Celebrity Bake Off. 'I've never really baked and I like cooking. I think that would be a fun one,' she said. 'I like doing reality shows where you learn something. I think it's good to learn a skill. I also did The Great Pottery Throw Down, which is airing this year, and I loved learning how to make things and work with ceramics. Anything where I can learn a new skill is fun.'

Celebrity Gogglebox airs every Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
