Nina made her debut in 2019 as the niece of Roy Cropper, played by David Neilson, and quickly became a fan favourite. Over the years, she has been involved in hard-hitting storylines, including a horrifying hate crime plot that earned Gallagher multiple awards for her performance.

Mollie Gallagher's Departure Confirmed

A Coronation Street spokesperson confirmed the news to Digital Spy, stating: “Mollie has created a unique and well-loved character in Nina over the past six and a half years, and everyone will be sorry to see her go. It is fantastic for Mollie that she has been given this incredible opportunity to play such an iconic role and we wish her all the best for the theatre tour.”

Gallagher has already secured her next role, making her professional stage debut as Clarice Starling in the UK and Ireland tour of Silence of the Lambs. She will appear in the world premiere stage adaptation of the 1991 film, alongside former soap stars John Partridge (Christian Clarke in EastEnders) as Dr. Hannibal Lecter, Oliver Farnworth (Andy Carver in Coronation Street and John Sugden in Emmerdale) as Jack Crawford, and Sam Jackson as Jame Gumb (Buffalo Bill). The adaptation is by two-time Pulitzer finalist and Tony-nominated playwright Gina Gionfriddo.

Since her arrival, Nina has been at the centre of several impactful storylines, including a devastating hate crime attack that left her and her boyfriend Seb Franklin brutally assaulted. The storyline highlighted the issue of hate crimes and earned critical acclaim. Gallagher's departure marks the end of an era for the character, who has grown from a quirky outsider to a beloved member of the Weatherfield community.
