Corrie fans fear for Lisa over painkiller scene

Coronation Street fans have shared a fresh fear for Lisa Connor-Swain as they were left questioning if a scene in the latest episode of the long-running show was intentional or not.

Just when you thought the Connor-Swains were going to get their happily ever after following their history-making wedding in the ITV soap, the family is set to be rocked by more drama in upcoming scenes.

Betsy's collapse and hospital dash

It was confirmed this week that Lisa and her wife, Carla, will be left worried sick next week when their daughter, Betsy, is found collapsed on the kitchen floor of No.6 Coronation Street, before being rushed to the hospital as she fights for her life.

Earlier this week, a promo for what's ahead, shared on Corrie's YouTube channel, revealed the moment an ambulance drives away from No.6 Coronation Street, and an anxious Carla arriving at the hospital to find Lisa at Betsy's bedside.

But what has happened to Betsy? And why does Dylan find himself in the firing line as her condition worsens? Corrie has teased that all will be revealed, as while Lisa demands answers and accusations fly, Betsy tries to come to terms with her life-changing diagnosis.

Painkiller scene sparks fan theories

While fans will have a few more days to find out how the storyline unfolds, it was during Friday's (July 10) visit to Weatherfield that they became concerned for Lisa. At the police station, DC Kit Green was disappointed to find out he was being removed from Theo Silverton's murder investigation, with Lisa informing him that the decision came from their superintendent as they were putting more manpower into a drugs case.

He was quick to wonder how Lisa would do the work on her own, but it was revealed that their colleague, now revealed as DC McLaughlin, would be working with her instead. "Are you joking?" Kit fumed. Handing over his new case, Lisa told him: "Have this instead. You'll never believe what a man, a tow rope and a can-do attitude can achieve."

But it was when he entered the office that Kit was seen asking Lisa if she was alright as she took some painkillers. While the scenes appear to be insignificant, Corrie fans have been left wondering if they were intentional.

Fan reactions on social media

@TheConnorSwains said: "Is Lisa taking painkillers this morning relevant? Has a soap done an over the counter medication addiction storyline before? Some pain medication can increase the risk of a stroke. This SL has me questioning everything! #Swarla #Corrie." @eternitydropped echoed: "Why is Lisa taking paracetamol and why does this feel significant, this storyline has me questioning EVERYTHING #Corrie."

@HereForSwarla replied: "Omg same, glad it's not just me!!" @Swarlas_street commented: "Lisa just randomly popping painkillers is insane." @sadlatimer added: "As much as i think lisa was just taking a paracetamol for a headache it would it interesting to see her fall into something to cope with everything… maybe her issues with drinking, that she clearly uses as a coping mechanism, could pop up idk."
