Coronation Street fans were left emotional as they spotted what they called a 'precious' relationship during Betsy Swain's devastating health storyline. The ITV soap aired harrowing scenes on Wednesday (July 15) as an ambulance was seen pulling away from No.6, revealing that Ryan Connor had discovered the unconscious teen on the kitchen floor.
Ryan explained the situation to a frantic Carla Connor-Swain, who then found her wife, Lisa Connor-Swain, with their daughter. The pair were seen keeping vigil by Betsy's bedside. However, things took a horror turn when, after her condition appeared to stabilise, Betsy suffered a second stroke while being visited by her boyfriend, Dylan Wilson.
Doctors Confirm Cause of Stroke
Doctors later confirmed that the stroke was caused by a blood clot resulting from neck artery damage due to temporary loss of circulation. This led Betsy to reveal to her mother that Dylan had strangled her during consensual sex, despite both believing the pressure applied was minimal. The soap worked closely with the Institute for Addressing Strangulation (IFAS), The Stroke Association, and Safeline, whose experts reviewed scripts and met with the production team and actors to ensure responsible portrayal.
