Coronation Street: Jodie Blamed as David the Dog Goes Missing

Beloved Platt family member David the dog has gone missing in Coronation Street, and Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) is to blame for the distraction. The disappearance occurred as Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) pressed Jodie for answers about her attack, with Jodie using the missing dog to evade further questioning.

Sarah Platt Revealed as Theo Silverton's Killer

In the June 22 episode of the ITV soap, it was finally revealed that Sarah Platt killed Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). The confrontation escalated when Theo taunted Sarah about the violence he inflicted on Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce). Sarah struck Theo with a metal pipe, causing him to fall over scaffolding to his death.

Actress Tina O'Brien explained Sarah's mindset: 'She'd gone looking for Todd, she rang him, she could hear this phone on the scaffolding, so she went up and there was Theo. She said some things that were pretty threatening so then he wouldn't let her leave. The way he was talking, it sounded like he'd done something to Todd, as in he was dead, that's how it felt to Sarah.'

O'Brien added: 'Then he said, if you think what I did to Todd was bad, and I loved him, think what I can do to you! He was coming towards her, and I think in that moment, as far as she was concerned, it was do or die.'

Sarah Seeks Closure with Jodie

Amid her desperation to keep her secret hidden, Sarah is also searching for answers about the night she was attacked. Next week, she visits Jodie to get closure, but DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) arrives. Lisa asks to go over that night again, and Jodie invites them inside. Sarah insists the attack happened at 9:10pm and that she heard David the dog barking loudly.

Jodie, fearing Sarah is getting too close to the truth, claims Sarah's timings don't add up and suggests she might have been with Gary Windass (Mikey North). Sarah then questions Jodie about her trinket box. Jodie is thrown but saved from answering when David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) storms in, angrily announcing that they left the gate open and David the dog is missing.

Was Jodie's Distraction Deliberate?

The question remains: was the missing dog a deliberate distraction from Jodie to keep her secrets hidden? If so, she may need another plan soon, as David tells Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) that Sarah seems to be acting strangely around Jodie.

O'Brien reflected on Sarah's inner turmoil: 'It's not just about her now, it's about her family and her son, and there are times when she can't cope with the pressure and you think she's just going to hand herself in. And then she thinks about her son growing up without a mum, if she's convicted and can't prove she acted in self defence. And because of those things, she's so desperate to do whatever it takes to be part of her family's life.'
