Coronation Street fans predict Nina's exit ends in murder

Coronation Street fans are convinced they have worked out how Nina Lucas will leave the soap, with many predicting a tragic murder storyline. Actress Mollie Gallagher, who has played Nina since 2019, is departing after six and a half years on the cobbles.

Nina's Departure Confirmed

The news of Gallagher's exit was confirmed by a Coronation Street spokesperson to Digital Spy. The spokesperson said: "Mollie has created a unique and well-loved character in Nina over the past six and a half years, and everyone will be sorry to see her go." They added: "It is fantastic for Mollie that she has been given this incredible opportunity to play such an iconic role and we wish her all the best for the theatre tour."

Nina first appeared on the ITV soap in 2019 as the niece of Roy Cropper, played by David Neilson. The character quickly became a fan favourite, with Gallagher earning critical acclaim and awards for her portrayal of a harrowing hate crime storyline.

Fan Speculation About Exit Storyline

Fans have already begun speculating about how Nina will be written out. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer wrote: "Next one to get killed off in doom and gloom street then!" Another commented: "Knowing their track record." A third added: "Same, I think she'll be killed off." A fellow fan said: "Sorry to see her go and I'll be so sad if she does get killed off."

The speculation suggests that the soap may opt for a dramatic and tragic end for the beloved character, continuing a pattern of high-stakes exits.

Mollie Gallagher's Next Project

Gallagher has already lined up her next role, making her professional stage debut as Clarice Starling in the UK and Ireland tour of The Silence of the Lambs. The world premiere stage adaptation of the 1991 film also features former soap actors John Partridge, who played Christian Clarke in EastEnders, and Oliver Farnworth, known for playing Coronation Street's Andy Carver and Emmerdale's John Sugden, as Dr. Hannibal Lecter and Jack Crawford, respectively. Sam Jackson has been cast as Jame Gumb (Buffalo Bill). The play is adapted by two-time Pulitzer finalist and Tony-nominated playwright Gina Gionfriddo from Thomas Harris's novel.

Coronation Street airs Monday to Friday at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
