During a recent episode of Channel 4's Come Dine With Me, host Pete was left red-faced after guest Angharad accused him of stealing edible flowers for his dish. The episode, set in Cardiff, saw chiropractor Pete hosting the final dinner of the week for guests Angharad, Claire, Charlotte, and David.
Allegations of Flower Theft
As Pete served edible flowers alongside his lemon posset and Glamorgan sausages, Angharad queried their origin. Pete claimed he had picked them from a path near Llandaff Cathedral. Unconvinced, Angharad bluntly replied, "You stole it!" David, another guest, chimed in that he often walked his dog in that direction. Claire also questioned whether the flowers had been washed properly.
Further Revelations
The scrutiny didn't end with the flowers. Guests later discovered that Pete had not made his own pastries for one of his dishes. Despite the call-outs, all guests agreed that Pete's food and hospitality were top-notch.
Social Media Reaction
The episode, first broadcast last year, sparked discussion online. One Facebook user commented, "I love when guests get upset that the host didn't make their own pastry. Who makes their own pastry? Shortcrust maybe, but I think using store-bought puff & filo pastry is totally ok!" Another added, "Competitors do make their own puff, shortcrust pastry but not filo, it is very fiddly I think."
At the end of the show, the winner received a £1,000 prize. Come Dine With Me airs weekdays at 6:30pm on Channel 4.
