Come Dine With Me Contestant Makes Savage Remark After Fish Row

On the final episode of Come Dine With Me, contestant Lauren made a savage remark about her rival Bernadette's cooking, comparing her chicken liver pate to 'cat food left out for a couple of days where the cat had died'. The comment came after a week-long feud over fish, dubbed 'seabassgate', between the two contestants.

Fishy Dispute Dominates Dinner Party Week

The episode, which aired on Friday July 10, was the last of the week, with Bernadette, Garry, Lydia, Saoirse and Lauren each hosting a three-course meal to win £1,000. Bernadette, a fish van operator, was keen to showcase her seafood expertise after a heated argument with Lauren earlier in the week. The disagreement centered on whether 'sea bass steaks' are a real thing, and it repeatedly overshadowed the other dinner parties in Glasgow.

Other contestants were forced to intervene when tensions escalated at the table. Although Friday's episode was calmer, Lauren did not hold back her disdain for Bernadette's cooking. While eating the chicken liver pate starter, she told the camera it was 'like a cat food, sort of left out for a couple of days and the cat had died'.

Main Course Also Criticized

Lauren also disliked the main course of hake, describing it as dry. Bernadette, in her private moment, told viewers: 'I think she's trying to insult me.' Despite the digs, the two women decided to bury the hatchet near the end of the evening. Bernadette said she was 'touched' by Lauren's wholesome approach.

However, neither Lauren nor Bernadette won the top prize, as they failed to impress the other guests enough. Come Dine With Me airs weekdays at 6:30pm on Channel 4.
