Coleen Nolan Swipes at Son Shane's Marriage on Podcast

Coleen Nolan couldn't resist taking a swipe at her son Shane Nolan's marriage during a family podcast, joking that his wedding cake melting was symbolic of the union itself. Shane, 33, married former Miss Great Britain Maddie Wahdan in 2022, but the couple split in 2023 after just one year amid allegations of infidelity.

Podcast Banter Turns Personal

On the Nolans Uncensored podcast, Shane, Coleen, and daughter Ciara Fensome discussed weddings. Shane joked he enjoys attending but not having them, then recalled his wedding cake collapsing. Coleen quipped: "A bit like your marriage, just melting from the start." Shane, taken aback, replied: "That is true, my fault, I hold my hands up."

Shane Reflects on Past Mistakes

Shane, who now dates a woman named Kim, said he would do things differently if he married again, preferring an activity stag do like paintballing or golf. Ciara jokingly described both Shane's and Coleen's marriages as "disastrous." Coleen has been married twice: to actor Shane Richie and to Ray Fensome, Ciara's father. She admitted staying in her first marriage too long due to Richie's infidelity, which he later confessed in his autobiography Rags to Riches.

Family History of Heartbreak

Richie wrote: "I was lying so much that I couldn't remember which story I'd told to each of them. And I'd lie to cover up the lies." Coleen told the Daily Star in 2012: "I'm in a much happier place now than when I was married to Shane – I don't have to worry about what he gets up to any more." She also told OK! magazine about Shane and Maddie's split: "It’s always extremely sad when something doesn’t work out – it’s always sad for both parties. Obviously Shane’s my son and I adore him. And I still adore Maddie. I can sit and talk to Maddie for hours, I’ve been there and done it."
