Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) has left the Emmerdale village after her life imploded following the rape by Doctor Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker) and subsequent blackmail. The beloved character reported the crime to the police, but Caitlin was released due to lack of evidence, claiming the sex was consensual.
Charity has also been hiding the fact that baby Leyla is actually her and Ross Barton's (Michael Parr) child. Her loved ones noticed her changed behaviour but assumed it was post-natal depression, making granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) feel guilty.
Charity's Spiral and Confrontation
In today's episode, Charity bonded with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) over their struggles, pushing him to talk about his cancer. However, she couldn't take her own advice. Later, she clashed with husband Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), who was trying to help but made her feel smothered.
Charity got into her car, screamed, and sped out of the village. In tomorrow's episode, she will be seen near a lake, ignoring calls from Mackenzie, who eventually calls the police about her disappearance.
Stranger Intervention
Charity will be found by a stranger who recognizes her low state and encourages her to talk. Whether she will open up remains to be seen.
